painters’ rule # 5 Blue Rules

“All painters (well, many many) love to paint intense blue paintings.  Often blue-on-blue.  Here are three.

This is “Prussian Blue” by Juan Jose Cambre–Argentine—

Also by Cambre—”ultramarine blue” –

again, Cambre—maybe just called “Blue”

“All But Less Than” by British painter, Mike Carvel

Interesting to see black used —  & so well —  be interested in seeing how he avoids the surface ‘film’ look acrylic can have —  seriously matte must be.

A strange piece that I like.  I can’t get the photo image adjusted properly to show the tones exactly.  I could call it something Australian like Walkabout or Ayer’s Rock–now known as Uluru—we watched “Priscilla, Queen of the Desert” last week and now I’m re-reading “The Songlines” for Travel Lit.

I came up from the studio this afternoon with this photo on the camera thinking that the painting was not yet finished.  But Virginia saw the photo and said she disagreed—she likes it as it is.  So be it.  (Maybe).

What to call it?  Nothing comes to mind yet.  Is it really finished?  Maybe that is the title?
